On September 24th 2018, the Microsoft Surface Hub 2 was announced

A long jump from the previous version, more compact, accessible, and stylized in many aspects. Our team was in charge of working on all its features from a UX Motion Design standpoint.

Listing Scenarios

We worked as a team to find all possible scenarios we needed to cover from a UI/UX standpoint using the user persona as an anchor, which at the point was focused on the enterprise and creative segment.

Motion was an essential aspect

The flexibility from the device is needed to create new motion functionalities not only into the OS system but also into the APPS to create a consistent experience in the environment. We worked on many animated scenarios for Office, Teams, and the OS features.

Spin it

Probably the main feature I worked on was the rotation aspect of the device from a technical and UX Motion Design Standpoint, the motion needed to be fluent and feel natural content-wise.

Also, I worked on the wallpaper envisioning for the device. Dynamic wallpapers that were capable to rotate with the device and react to the user input.

The first step was creating a design system and motion guidelines with the right and wrong scenarios to be applied into the system

Set the space

We defined the rotation space guidelines, aspect ratio, and resolution. Also, we created a response formula from the wallpaper to the user input on the device.

Then we work on many wallpaper scenarios based on the marketing strategy and look and feel we defined in the begining.
